Integrated food logistics for clean-label brands

A sustainable food supply chain and healthier ingredients

Centrally located with two manufacturing facilities in the Chicagoland area, The Fresh Factory serves customers of all sizes throughout the continental U.S.

As a vertically integrated co-manufacturer and co-packer, we offer end-to-end food logistics solutions for better-for-you brands, with a focus on food chain sustainability. This empowers brands to streamline operations, maintain quality, and reduce their environmental impact.

Local food sourcing

With a dedicated supply chain team, we prioritize local sourcing whenever possible to ensure ingredient freshness and reduce our co-manufacturing carbon footprint. This farm-to-shelf approach strengthens the local food ecosystem through meaningful partnerships with growers and producers.

In 2024, The Fresh Factory purchased 5.8M lbs of produce from farmers. Any ingredients, fresh produce, or packaging we can’t source locally is obtained from a trusted network of farmers and distributors around the country.

We then employ innovative processing techniques to transform those high-quality, sustainably sourced ingredients into nutritious foods, including vegan options, free of artificial colors and preservatives.

Sustainable food supply chains

As the clean-label movement grows, health-conscious brands seek partners who offer sustainable, integrated food and beverage supply chain management rather than isolated co-packing or manufacturing services. This means integrating responsible practices throughout every stage of the supply chain, from ingredient sourcing to final distribution.

We’ve implemented route optimization strategies to reduce emissions and improve logistics efficiency, which lowers costs and improves delivery reliability for our partners. We also partner with a network of distributors, trucking companies, and freight providers to distribute products on time and safely.

  • Reduced complexity from managing multiple vendor relationships
  • Lower costs by consolidating business functions to one end-to-end partner
  • Faster production via a single partner that can provide benchtop samples, offer food safety recommendations, and conduct trials with potential customers
